Cómic: Basilisk #10

Hay series que pasan sin pena ni gloria, y otras que te encantan, te intrigan, y la espera por más te mata. Hoy les quiero contar sobre el número más reciente de una serie así, uno que devoré en nada y me dejó ansioso por el siguiente: Basilisk #10, con un guión de Cullen Bunn y arte de Jonas Scharf. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Los horrores indescriptibles del pasado de la comuna finalmente se revelan, mientras que Hannah y Regan huyen de los hombres peligrosos que las persiguen. ¿Conseguirá Hannah llegar a Vanessa? ¿Y estará de acuerdo con lo que le costará?

Este es un capítulo un tanto extraño a primera vista, aunque nos da un poco más de información sobre los motivos que hay detrás de los personajes, sentando bases para una lucha de poderes no tan disparejos. Antes se trataba de dos lados de la historia, pero ahora hay tres y un conflicto en potencia que no puede terminar bien.

El guión se apoya mucho en la acción dejando un poco de lado el desarrollo y evolución de los personajes, pero lo compensa con el arte crudo que llena las páginas. Las últimas en especial son bastante atractivas por su distribución de paneles y escenas intercaladas. Aquí fue cuando el arte estuvo en su punto más alto.

Me hubiera gustado un poco más de desarrollo, evidentemente, no tanto misterio sobre la naturaleza de La Quimera, qué pasa con Vanessa, y puntos similares. Siento que un par de páginas adicionales habrían resuelto esto, pero es más un número de acción que cualquier otra cosa, que no está mal, solo que prefiero más respuestas que sangre.

En pocas palabras, Basilisk #10 es excelente para pasar el tiempo, está bien elaborado, agrega un capítulo interesante a la historia, y te deja con ganas de mucho más. No es perfecto, pero sí ofrece un giro en la trama principal que no se veía venir, perfecto para esperar con ansias el número siguiente.

Today I want to tell you about the most recent issue of such a series, one that I devoured in no time and left me eager for the next one: Basilisk #10, with a script by Cullen Bunn and art by Jonas Scharf. Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!

The unspeakable horrors of the commune's past are finally revealed, while Hannah and Regan flee from dangerous men in pursuit. Will Hannah manage to reach Vanessa? And will she even agree with what it will cost her?

This is a somewhat strange chapter at first glance, although it does give us a bit more insight into the motives behind the characters, laying the groundwork for a not-so-uneven power struggle. Before it was about two sides to the story, but now there are three and a potential conflict that can't end well.

The script relies a lot on the action, leaving a bit aside the characters' development and evolution, but it makes up for it with the raw art that fills the pages. The last ones in particular are quite attractive due to their distribution of panels and interspersed scenes. This was when the art was at its highest point.

I would have liked a little more development, obviously, not so much mystery about the nature of The Chimera, what's happening to Vanessa, and similar points. I feel like a couple of extra pages would have solved this, but it's more of an action issue than anything else, which isn't bad, I just prefer more answers than blood.

In a nutshell, Basilisk #10 is a great time passer, well crafted, adds an interesting chapter to the story, and leaves you wanting more. It's not perfect, but it does offer a twist to the main plot that you didn't see coming, perfect for looking forward to the next issue.
