Cómic: Alice Ever After #5

Hace poco me volví a quedar despierto hasta tarde. Hay historias que se te meten hasta por los ojos y de las que no te puedes despegar sino hasta que terminas de leer. Me ha pasado  muy seguido con esta serie, y la conclusión no podía ser diferente. Se trata de Alice Ever After #5, por Dan Panosian y Giorgio Spalletta. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

En la sorprendente conclusión de la oscura secuela de Alice, ella se encuentra frente a la temida "solución permanente" del Dr. Madsen y la señora Hilda. A medida que sus recuerdos reprimidos deforman el mismo País de las Maravillas, Alicia se encuentra en el umbral de ser desterrada de la realidad para siempre...

 

Lo que más me gusta de este número es lo atmosférico que es todo sin perder el ritmo trepidante, casi cinematográfico. Literalmente parece que estuvieras viendo un cortometraje por lo bien logrado que está todo. Se me pasó el tiempo volando desde que empecé, y la experiencia se puso mejor a medida que fui avanzando.

El arte como siempre estuvo excelente, y hubo una dualidad de estilos que jugó muy a favor del resultado final. La distribución, los colores, e incluso los diálogos fueron un disfrute visual, aunque ya no me sorprende a este punto. Es algo que se ha mantenido desde el inicio. En todo caso, podría decir que te deja un mejor sabor en la boca por tratarse de la conclusión.

Mi único comentario es que el tema del padre de Alicia quedó muy a la deriva. Se trata de algo tan central, tan esencial, y sin embargo no tuvo la debida importancia en este número. Hay algunas pistas aquí y allá, y por un momento parece adivinarse que Alicia tiene un as bajo la manga, pero es bastante agridulce todo, no precisamente en el buen sentido. Siento que podría haberse hecho algo mejor con esto.

En líneas general, un número excelente con algunos detalles que podrían haber sido mejores, pero adictivo como ningún otro. Alice Ever After #5 fue toda una experiencia desde el inicio, y esperaba grandes cosas de la conclusión. Entretenida, fuerte, cruda, y realista, es un número que cierra bien esta saga de secretos familiares, trauma, y demencia.

I recently stayed up late again. There are stories that get into your eyes and from which you cannot detach yourself until you finish reading. It has happened to me very often with this series, and the conclusion couldn't be different. In the stunning conclusion to Alice's dark sequel, she finds herself faced with Dr. Madsen and Mistress Hilda's dreaded "permanent solution." As her repressed memories warp Wonderland itself, Alice finds herself on the threshold of being banished from reality forever...

What I like most about this issue is how atmospheric everything is without losing the fast-paced, almost cinematic rhythm. It literally seems like you're watching a short film because of how well everything is done. Time flew by since I started, and the experience got better as I went along.

The art, as always, was excellent, and there was a duality of styles that played very much in favor of the final result. The layout, the colors, and even the dialogue were a visual delight, though I'm no longer surprised at this point. It's something that has been maintained since the beginning. In any case, I could say that it leaves a better taste in your mouth because it's the conclusion.

My only comment is that the subject of Alice's father was very much adrift. It's something so central, so essential, and yet it didn't have its due importance in this issue. There are a few hints here and there, and for a moment it seems that Alicia has an ace up her sleeve, but it's all quite bittersweet, not exactly in a good way. I feel like something better could have been done with this.

Overall, an excellent number with some details that could have been better, but addictive like no other. Alice Ever After #5 was an experience from the start, and I expected great things from the conclusion. Entertaining, strong, raw, and realistic, it's an issue that closes well this saga of family secrets, trauma, and dementia.
